Another Dot Com Boom?
Published on 09/07/2004
CNBC reported recently that 1.5% of all the sales made by American companies are through the internet and further reports indicate that this number is set to rise almost 10% over the next five years.
Companies like Yahoo, Google, Ebay and Amazon are all posting record profits and investor confidence is returning. In fact the BBC’s Money Programme found that more of the original dot.coms made it through the stock market crash than once thought (the programme found that two-thirds of them are still in business).
In fact Google is predicted to fetch around $15-20bn when it floats on the stock market soon and could set another record for a dot.com. Rory Cellan ( the BBC’s industry correspondent ) says “Internet Business is nothing like as exciting as 1999 and 2000 but probably a lot more sustainable”.
It seems the future for Internet business is looking very rosy indeed!
